Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year, she was awarded the role of lead. Her performance was lauded throughout the 92 productions she appeared in. She won the award in 2002 for the Best Production of the Year, as judged by Canadian critics. The conservatory in Stratford accepts eight men, four women and a handful of other people for a 20 weeks of crash courses. Contractor received a guaranteed place for the next season. She was also offered the role of Hermia.
